Instead, use your personal computer for your tax files. Keep all your annual returns on one disk, in one spot for your reference and convenience.
Part and parcel with the paperless environment is e-filing. E-files are not official until accepted by the IRS. This is usually two days after transmission. Of course you know that the advantage of e-filling is that you can receive your refunds in two weeks. It also means more accurate reporting which should help minimize possible loss of deductions, the risk of audit, and potential assessment of fines and penalties. However, with e-filing you are still responsible for having and maintaining your support documentation. This support documentation includes, but is not limited to all itemized deductions as well as auto, travel, entertainment, charitable contributions and related expenses.
